THE BORNEO WIRE: THE SUMMER 2001 ISSUE

The Borneo Project is proud to offer a cultural and ecological tour of Sarawak from January 14th through 29th, 2002. This 16 day tour will be a great chance to get to know the indigenous people of Borneo, their unique cultures, and how they confront the issues of the twenty-first century. Share in daily activities such as fishing, weaving, farming and collecting forest products. Learn about medicinal plants, the rice cycle, the hornbill dance and traditional beliefs of the Iban, Kayan, Penan and Kenyah people. Explore towering rainforests, twisting rivers and limestone caves. Glimpse proboscis monkeys, monitor lizards, jeweled butterflies and the mystical hornbill.

Trip cost will vary depending on group size. We will travel in small numbers using local transportation. Optional 13 day trip negotiable. For further details and price lists please contact The Borneo Project at: 510-547-4258.

Building Cross-cultural Partnerships. In April, The Borneo Project met with several communities including villagers of Rumah Rayong to discuss the idea of bringing small groups of westerners to their longhouses in the Borneo rainforest. The communities have enthusiastically endorsed the idea and you've expressed interest, so we are moving forward. This may be your chance!
